Springfield, PA – A full day of golf on the greens brought these like-minded Greek-Americans and local businesses together. The event raised approximately $80,000, which will be used in part, to help members of the community in need.

In only its second year as an organization, Hellenic Hearts is making significant strides. “The board at Hellenic Hearts, introduced 15 new scholarships for high school graduates”, said Scholarship Program Director Tim Vlassopoulos. “We’re also looking to expand the EGP program, from being hosted at local churches, to a university in the area.”

The Educational Guidance Program provides education-to-career guidance to Hellenic American Youth through mentoring, networking, admissions counseling, and professionalism programs, with the goal of promoting higher education and increasing professional success.

“Hellenic Hearts as an organization has great potential. What we need to do now is get the word out there”, said Dr. Niki Mendrinos. We need to get people to understand the work we’re doing and why we’re doing it. We need to get people on board and help us. The next 3-5 years with the leadership on our board, show great potential to do more to help our community”, added Mendrinos.

That thought seemed answered on this day when the golfing on the greens was concluded. Both golfers and guests who came in for the presentations, auctions, and dinner packed the catering facilities. They shared an evening over some traditional Greek music by DJ Taso and got to know each other. Throughout the evening many new friendships were forged. Many who came out, were repeat members with a belief in the organization and its message. However, there were those who came for the first time, drawn by the continued message, of this organization’s president, John Aivozoglou. “We are going to help so many people in the Delaware Valley. We are very proud of the dedicated members and sponsors who have made this organization possible. It’s a great day for Hellenic Hearts”.
