“This event now gives us our sea legs to move forward and implement our crisis management system, scholarships, and begin funding our Educational Guidance program,” said John Aivazoglou, founder of the Hellenic Hearts nonprofit organization. It was the first ever Hellenic Hearts Invitational Golf Tournament, hosted at Waynesborough Country Club this past Monday and the organization’s friends and Greek community were in attendance.
Under rainy skies, some 100 golfers came out to play and support the efforts of the new foundation that launched just a little over a year and a half ago. By dinner time, after playing the course, the golfers and the over 200 guests. Aivazoglou introduced the evening speakers who addressed the organization’s three-legged programs. Board members, Tim Vlassopoulos and Nick Karalis addressed the program funds and how they would be distributed, while Louie Karapanagiotides spoke on behalf of the scholarships and the Educational Guidance program. NBC sports analyst Steve Lapis handled the live auctions along with Vlassopoulos, who helped generate additional funding with their friendly and candid style.
