How do I apply for a scholarship?

Determine eligibility status, complete the undergraduate application, submit your academic transcripts and standardized test scores, one letter of recommendation, an essay, and page 1 of FAFSA Student Aid Report and financial package letter from University if received.

Filodoxia Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Hellenic Hearts Filodoxia Scholar Program, the following criteria is required to be met:

  • Applicants must be of Greek descent, U.S. citizens, or lawful permanent residents of Greater Philadelphia / Tri-State Region.
  • Applicants must be full-time students pursuing studies leading to a degree in an accredited four-year college, university or professional school, or high school seniors intending to pursue such studies.
  • Applicants must have outstanding academic qualifications (GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher) and demonstrate financial need.

Please note:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in full-time undergraduate programs during the 2023-2024 academic year. They do not need to know which institution they will attend or what financial aid package they will receive to be eligible to apply for Hellenic Hearts Filodoxia Scholar Program at the time of the application.
  • Previously accepted Hellenic Hearts Filodoxia Scholars may not reapply.

Completed applications, as outlined below, must be received by June 15, 2023.

Instructions to Applicant

  • Determine if you are eligible to apply for an Undergraduate Scholarship (see above).
  • Complete and submit the online application below. Once you have completed and submitted the application, email the supporting documents (see below) to HellenicHeartsScholarProgram@Gmail.com. Provide all supporting documentation (excluding Letter of Recommendation) via one email by 5:00 pm on June 15, 2023 to be considered.

Supporting Documents

  1. ESSAY: Submit a cohesive essay of one to two pages that addresses the following:
    • « Φιλοδοξία » is the Greek word describing an ardent desire to achieve success through determination and hard work. It exemplifies an individual’s ambition and passion to better themselves and their family and is the ideal to which the Hellenic Hearts scholar program is dedicated. What role has Φιλοδοξία played in your life thus far and how might it impact your future academic goals, aspirations and ultimately your professional career?
  2. ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS & STANDARDIZED EXAM SCORES: High school seniors must submit all high school transcripts including – if available – SAT/ACT scores. First-year undergraduates must submit undergraduate transcripts as well as high school transcripts and – if available – SAT/ACT scores. Other undergraduates must submit all college/university transcripts. Email (or have your institutions email) all transcripts/exam scores to us.
  3. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: Request one letter of recommendation on official letterhead from your guidance counselor, academic adviser, teacher or professor and ask them to email the letter to HellenicHeartsScholarProgram@Gmail.com by June 15, 2023. You will be able to provide their contact information in question 12 of the online application/form.
  4. FAFSA STUDENT AID REPORT: Some scholarships will require you to submit via email: page 1 of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA and financial package letter (with offered scholarships and true tuition cost) from University, if received.
